People have been bookmarking web pages since the early 90s. Back then, Netscape Navigator called them bookmarks, while Internet Explorer called them favorites. Personally, I've always called them bookmarks. But then again, Netscape was always my preferred browser.
Excite
Excite came out circa 1995, and it was a major search engine back in the 90s. It was one of the first search engines I ever used, apart from the Yahoo web directory.
