Netscape Navigator

Netscape Navigator came out circa 1994, and at least for me, it became the go-to web browser. I really think it was the best, most dominant web browser of the 1990s, until Internet Explorer came along and ultimately won the browser wars. Eventually, Netscape kind of just faded away, and it was really, very sad.

Macromedia Shockwave

Shockwave was released circa 1995 and helped bring interactive games, animations, and other multimedia experiences to the World Wide Web. But nowadays, only old people remember it.

Macromedia Flash

Flash was released circa 1996 and was a big deal in the 90s and 2000s because it powered animations, games, interactive websites, and other multimedia on the World Wide Web. It was acquired by Adobe circa 2005 and became known as Adobe Flash. Flash Player has since been discontinued, but I only remember the good times, especially playing Flash games right in my web browser.

RealPlayer

What became known as RealPlayer began circa 1995 and was one of the first ways one could play audio over the web. A lot of websites used RealPlayer for their audio content. But eventually, it just declined and fizzled away as other technologies were developed and rolled out. All I know is, as soon as I see the RealPlayer logo, it kicks up nostalgia for the late 1990s.
